Why you should trade Pete Alonso before it's too late
Pete Alonso has had just a normal start to the season, but it is time to trade him right now. Polar Bear Pete just will not have a great season this year, and even though he is still in his prime, we predict this year will be a bit of a setback year. We are about to go into why you need to trade him, so Pete Alonso managers, sit tight.
Last season, Pete Alonso hit 46 home runs on only a .212 batting average. So far this season, Alonso seems to be running along the same path with a .217 batting average, but only nine home runs in 36 games. This year, he is only on pace for 41 home runs, and with batting .217, he will not be the power he has been in years past in fantasy.
Alonso is currently ranked as the eight ranked best first basemen, but it is the only position that he can play. He is also a liability to your teams when he is not hitting home runs every other day, which he hasn't been recently. In fact, Alonso has only gone over 45 homers once since his rookie year, and it was last year on a terrible Mets team.
We would trade Alonso for a list of other first basemen or a package deal with different position players. We would trade Pete Alonso for Josh Naylor, Christian Walker, Vinnie Pasquantino, Bryce Harper, Vlad Guerrero Jr., Rafael Devers, Jake Cronenworth, Luis Arraez, Jeremy Pena, and Nolan Arenado. All these guys are either averaging more points than Alonso, have more total points, or more upside than Pete Alonso.
