Why you should trade for Walker Buehler before he's a Cy Young candidate

05/06/2024

The 2x All Star's name should not be this quiet going into his return start against the Marlins. Sure he may not look the best coming off injury but in his defense he has delt with injuries before and we all know what he is capable off. After winning the World Series in 2020 we have not heard of the name Walker Buehler since. But that name will make a big impact to this insanely loaded Dodgers team already who's only weak point is the pitching game and with Evan Phillips just making the 15 day IL its time for someone else to step up.

Outside of Buehler's amazing season in 2021 earning him 1st team all MLB in pitching. Buehler has not been able to make a name for himself because of injuries. Now that Buehler has a chance to get back on the field early on especially because his first start is against the Marlins who just got destroyed by the A's over the weekend. We have a chance to witness his 2.48 ERA and 16 win season again just like 2021. To break down his career, Buehler went to Vanderbilt for college in 2014, won a college championship there and then went to the Dodgers organization in 2017 and won a World Series in 2020. This Dodgers team is more than capable to repeat this and Walker Buehler could be a big part in this run.

Now on the fantasy aspect, Buehler is not very valuable right now so I would highly suggest making a trade for him before he get's very good. Although it's very risky to trade for a guy who hasn't played a single game yet, but it will definitely be worth it. I would highly suggest trading a lower end pitcher like Max Fried or Jordan Montgomery for Walker Buehler.
