Why you need to trade for Rafael Devers right now

06/02/2024

Rafael Devers came back from a bone bruise in his knee, Devers has been on a hot streak and has been a must start for any reasonable fantasy manager. He even made history and has been moved up to a top-5 third basemen and maybe even a top-10 fantasy player. We will be going through why you need to trade for him right now.

This season, Devers stats might deceive you because of his injury where missed almost a month of baseball at the start of the season. He is batting a split of .283/.376/.549 with a .924 OPS with a 1.2 WAR so far this season, with 52 hits and 12 doubles. In the advanced stats department, Devers has a RC/27 (Runs Created per 27 Outs) of 6.9, the second highest of his career. Also, he's on pace for the second most runs created in career with a projection of 110 runs created. Overall, Devers is on pace for his second best season in his career, just behind his 2019 season.

In fantasy redraft leagues, Devers is currently listed as the fifth best third basemen in total points scored, which is great because he missed about 3 weeks. He is averaging 5.7 fantasy points per game and in the last two weeks he has bumped it up almost a whole point. He has a total of 273 points on the year and has 31 in the last week alone, along with 10 home runs.

We would trade for Devers right now for multiple players, but we will be going through all of the third basemen that we would pick Rafael Devers for the rest of the year. Abraham Toro, Ryan McMahon, Isaac Paredes, Maikel Garcia, Spencer Steer, and Alex Bregman are all third basemen that are floating around Devers in points this year but that we think are going to be worse than Devers for the rest of the season.
