Why William Contreras and Taylor Ward need to be traded immediately

04/19/2024

William Contreras and Taylor Ward have both had stellar starts to the season. Contreras has been the best catcher in fantasy so far and Ward is the second best outfielder. But, we think that they need to be traded as soon as possible, because they will NOT keep these performances up the entire season.

William Contreras might be one of the most underrated catchers in all of baseball, especially on the hitting side of things. So far this year, Contreras has been averaging almost 8 points per game, which racks up to about 125 points so far. He has been batting .375 with 4 homers this season. He also has 17 RBI's and 24 hits. But, we don't think that he will continue these excellent performances. The stats show that Contreras's best season, which was last year, he only had 17 home runs and 78 RBI's. We would highly advise to trade Conteras right now before he goes on a slump. One guy you should try and get for Contreras is Adley Rutschman. Now, Rutschman has not been playing bad at all this year. But, he is only the seventh best catcher in fantasy so far. You could even get Rutschman and a little more for Contreras right now, which would be a great trade for you.

Taylor Ward has also been playing great this year. He is listed as the third best outfielder in the league and he is averaging about 7 points per game. But, these performances will not last for Ward. At 30 years old, his prime is long past him. We believe that Ward is just having a good start to the season, and taking advantage of the lackluster Angels team. He's batting .296 with 6 home runs this year, both would be on pace for career highs. The problem is, in the 2022 season, Ward had around the same start as this. He had a great month or two of the start of the year, then fell off and got injured. Some guys we would try and trade Ward for somone like Julio Rodriguez, who has had a terrible start to the season but will end up being an All-Star and having a better season that Taylor Ward.
