Why Kel'el Ware will win the Rookie of the Year

In recent days, Kel'el Ware of the Miami Heat has moved into the favorite spot for the Rookie of the Year position. Many people don't even know who this guy is because his starting odds were somewhere around 10000-1. The 15th overall pick of this year's draft has been putting on a show lately for the Heat and is one of the bright young spots on the team. Today we will be going into why Kel'el Ware will win Rookie of the Year.
This season, Ware is averaging 8.4 points, five rebounds and 0.6 assists. He is also putting up about a block and a steal per game. His shooting splits are really good as he is shooting 56% from the field, 41% from three and 73% from the foul line. Now, you might look at these stats and wonder how he is the favorite to win ROTY this season, but these stats don't show the whole story. In his last 10-15 games, Ware has been going OFF.
In the month of January he has nearly doubled his minutes played, and the production has gone way up too. In the month of January Ware has been averaging 13 points, seven rebounds and a block per game. In just the past week he has averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds a game. With this exponential growth by him already after just one month of getting some starts, we can only imagine what his potential will be by the end of the season.
Overall, Kel'el Ware seems to be running away with this award so far, but anything can happen. The players currently behind him in the race are Zach Edey, Stephon Castle, Jaylen Wells and Alex Sarr. These players have all had great seasons up to this point, but Ware's peak in the last 2-3 weeks has surpassed all of theirs. When we find out the Rookie of the Year in April, don't be surprised when Kel'el Ware is grabbing the trophy.
