Why Christian Watson could be a sleeper pick for your bench this season

06/09/2024

Christian Watson had a down year last season after his stellar rookie season, so he is falling in mock drafts. In fact, he isn't even being selected as a starter in most drafts. We are here to change the narrative about Watson that he can't be a quality starter on your fantasy team.

Last season, Watson had 28 receptions for 422 yards and 5 touchdowns, for a 15.1 yards per reception. He did this all in only nine games because of a Hamstring Strain and a Knee Bruise. If he played the entire season, then Watson would of had around 52 receptions for 800 yards and 9 touchdowns, which would put him as a low end WR3 to a high end WR4, and he would be averaging about 12 fantasy points per game. These fantasy performances would put Watson as a good FLEX for your team, depending on how many members are in your league.

His rookie season in only 14 games played, Watson had 41 receptions for 611 yards and seven touchdowns. This season is where he broke out as a solid fantasy player, and he especially broke out whenever in Week 8, he had four receptions for 108 yards and three touchdowns, giving him 33 fantasy points. This performance made him a waiver wire pickup everywhere, and he didn't take his foot off the gas for the rest of the season, helping fantasy team across the globe with having four of his next seven games over 12 fantasy points.

Watson can easily come back to his former self this season and in his third season he can still improve. We expect Watson to have around 55 receptions, 950 yards and 11 touchdowns which would make it a career year for Christian Watson. This is his first full healthy season as the WR 1 on the Green Bay Packers as his only competition is a sophomore season Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed.
