Waiver Wire Pickups: Fantasy Baseball Edition- Week of 4/21
04/21/2024
Once again, a new week of fantasy is here, and a new week of players that are breaking out and need to be onto your roster. Some guys might be going under the radar, and by looking at this article, you're going to get a head start on the players you need on your roster.
#5- Jackson Merrill (38.3%)
Jackson Merrill is one of the best incoming prospects this year, and he's showing why in fantasy. He is listed as the tenth best shortstop/outfielder this year, and he is averaging about 4 points per game. He is batting .311 with 23 hits, 3 doubles and a triple. With only being rostered in about 40 % of leagues, he would be a great pickup as he's averaging more points than shortstops such as Francisco Lindor or Bo Bichette.
#4- Ryan Jeffers (19.5%)
Ryan Jeffers is a great pickup for anyone needing a catcher, as he is listed as the tenth best catcher this year. But, his averages since coming into the starting role have been great. He is averaging about 5 points right now, which is way more than just the tenth best catcher. For example, Adley Rutschman is averaging about the same as Jeffers, and he is the third best catcher right now. For only be rostered in 20% of leagues, he's a great waiver wire pickup.
#3- Amed Rosario (22.7%)
Amed Rosario was listed as the Fantasy Hitter of the Week in the Fantasy Baseball Player of the Week- 4/19, so it's no surprise that he's on here. Rosario is a steal for anyone that needs an utility guy on their roster. He's the fourth ranked shortstop right now as he's averaging about 6.5 points per game. He's on a bit of a hot streak right now on the lackluster Rays, and he will help out your team a lot if you just pick him up.
#2- Nick Lodolo (40.9%)
Nick Lodolo just came back from a costly injury, and now that he's back he is looking better than ever. In his first two starts, he has had performances of 20 and 28 fantasy points. On the season, he has had 12 IP, 1 BB, 8 H, and an insane 16 K's. Lodolo has a 0.75 ERA this season, and he's playing electric. Since most teams need a pitcher or pitching depth, Lodolo would be a great pickup for any team.
#1- Michael Busch (64.7%)
Michael Busch, or the "Beer Man" as fans are calling him, is playing great in his first season with the Cubs. He can play third base or first base, and he's graded as the 3rd best third basemen this year. He's averaging about 6 points per game this year, which will help teams out tremendously, but we don't think it will keep up. That's why it's important to pick him up now before he goes on a slump. He once had six straight homers in six games, and we can only hope that he does that again whenever he's on your roster.
