Waiver Wire Pickups: Fantasy Baseball Edition- Week of 4/14

04/12/2024

A new week of fantasy is here, and a new week of players that are breaking out and need to be onto your roster. Some guys might be going under the radar, and by looking at this article, you're going to get a head start on the players you needon your roster.

#5- MJ Melendez (28.6%)

MJ Melendez of the Kansas City Royals has been playing great lately, but not many people seem to be taking notice of it. He's ranked as the number #2 outfielder and is averaging almost 8 points per game. We don't know why he hasn't been getting the love he deserves, but we can only suspect it's because he is on the lackluster Royals team. The only team that won't be lackluster is yours after you pick him up.

#4- Tyler Anderson (17.3%)

Tyler Anderson is a starting pitcher for the Angels right now who is flying under the radar despite playing excellent. Anderson is averaging 25.5 points per game, and his last two starts he has posted games of 26 and 25. A lot of it's due to the fact that he has given up 0 ER in his two starts. If he can be consistent like this for the rest of the year, he can easily be of the best waiver wire steals this season, and you can proudly say that he's on your roster.

#3- Connor Joe (43.8%)

Joe has been playing incredible lately, and fantasy managers are starting to pick up on his recent consistency and have been starting to pick him up. This season, Joe has only gotten negative points in a game just one time, and has also put up performances like 13, 15, 16 and 20. He is averaging about 7 points a game this year, and is also the seventh best outfielder. If your team needs extra depth or just a guy who can get seven points a night, we highly suggest to pick up Connor Joe.

#2- Spencer Turbull (22.9%)

Turnbull has been playing great for the Phillies as a starting pitcher, with recent performances of 21 and 22. He is only rostered in about 23% of fantasy leagues. He would be a great pickup because he has only 3 ER in three games. After Turbull has those two great performances, he had a bit of a setback on Saturday against the Pirates, where he gave up 3 ER and had -7 fantasy points, which is a huge reason that many people dropped him. We predict for him to have a big stretch of good games here, which is why you need to pick him up.

#1- Tyler O'Neill (73.4%)

O'Neill is a top five outfielder right now in fantasy and he is showing it with these past performances. It's going to be tough to pick him up when he's rostered in almost 75% of leagues. But not impossible. If you somehow able to pick up O'Neill in your league, we would highly advise you too. He is the fifth best outfielder right now in fantasy, with an average of almost 8.  He also has 7 home runs so far and is batting .304, which is great for only two weeks into the season. If Tyler O'Neill is not on a roster, we think he has made more than just a case to be added to your roster.
