Top 10 MLB Prospects for the 2025 MLB season

01/29/2025

#1- Roki Sasaki- Starting Pitcher (LAD)

Roki Sasaki is going to go to the Dodgers. His biggest concern is his breaking ball and if it will be major league ready. His biggest strength is his fastball and his splitter. His fastball is around 101-MPH and his cut-splitter can move in any direction, just like Kodai Senga of the Mets. The Dodgers will try to get him to throw his breaking ball faster. Unlike Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Sasaki is more of a project. You have to remember that Yamamoto was a 3x Cy Young winner in Japan. He is easily the number one guy in redraft leagues, but may still be a project and this Dodgers starting rotation is stacked. Roki won't be a guy that will pitch 200+ innings, and only projected around 120. His ADP is the 36th pitcher off the board, which we think is just too high this season.

#2- Kristian Campbell- Outfielder (BOS)

The word has spread that Cambell might already be in the starting lineup on Opening Day, which is huge for him. Campbell was a fast mover, as he moved up all the way up the minor league throughout last year. He is a utility guy, as he can play almost every position. He has been seen playing second and third base, as well as outfield and shortstop. He is a very good hitter and doesn't swing and miss much in the zone. They need a utility guy like Campell right now, which would be great for fantasy baseball and he might be worth a draft pick.

#3- Jasson Dominguez- Outfielder (NYY)

Now we know that Dominguez didn't play well at the end of the 2024 season, but we think he will take that year two jump that is needed for him. The good thing is that Dominguez is only 21 years old still. He is a major power hitter, even though his frame is only 5'9 and 190 pounds. He is a guaranteed starter on Opening Day, and the flashes that we've seen have shown that he can be great this season. He is a very good switch hitter and can get hits against almost any pitcher in the league. If this guy is available, we would definitely use a pick on him.

#4- Matt Shaw- Utility Infielder (CHC)

He has been moving up and down between AA and AAA but this year we suspect he will be in the lineup early this year. The Cubs can be a sneaky good contender this year with Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker. Shaw can play anywhere in the infield but is going to play most of his reps at third base. The Cubs currently don't have a quality third basemen, so the spot is open for Shaw. Shaw is a great hitter and just an average defender, which of course doesn't matter for fantasy baseball. Shaw is being selected at around the 30th third basemen off the board, which we think is a great spot for him.

#5- Dylan Crews- Outfielder (WSH)

Crews is another guy that will 100% be an Opening Day starter for the Nationals. Last year in the majors, he didn't strike out much and had amazing power for him. It is possible that Crews leads off for the Nationals, and if not he will definitely be at the top of the lineup. He doesn't have the ceiling of the guys before him, but easily has a higher floor than almost all of them. His ADP for outfielders is right around 45 right now, which we think would be a bargain for a guy like Crews.

#6- Jackson Jobe- Starting Pitcher (DET)

Jobe may be a guy that won't be in the starting rotation just yet, and at the start of the year might be in the bullpen. But, after a few weeks of playing his best in the bullpen, will most likely be in the starting rotation. His fastball is at around 98 MPH, but that isn't even his best pitch. Every scout has said that his changeup is his best pitch, and he could be the best rookie pitcher in the AL. Jobe's Pitcher ADP is 200r right now, which you need to get immediately because this kid is going to be a stud.

#7- Roman Anthony- Outfielder (BOS)

Roman Anthony is the best or second best prospect in all of baseball, but the reason that he is so low is that there is a possibility that he doesn't make this 40-man roster until the end of the year. He doesn't rely solely on power, and can get on base and hit well. Keep checking up on Anthony just in case he gets called up early and grab him quickly.

#8- Jordan Lawlar- Shortstop (ARI)

He can hit the ball very well and is a very good athlete. The Diamondbacks made some moves this offseason, and with that there's a chance that he could play the outfield or somewhere else in the infield. He has played very well in the minor leagues and in the Dominican Republic. He will definitely be in the major league this season because of his age for a prospect. There's a chance that he won't be an everyday player for the backs, but will still be a good player.

#9- Bubba Chandler- Starting Pitcher (PIT)

Chandler is a guy who could make a ton of starts for the back end of the rotations for the Pirates. In seven starts at the end of last season for the AAA team he played very well with a 1.83 ERA and a lot of strikeouts. His fastball is one of the best for how young he is and his changeup is also really good.

#10- Travis Bazzana- Second Base (CLE)

Bazzana was the first overall pick in last year's draft and maybe has the most hype on the list, so we had to put him on here. The Guardians are a team that don't have a good second basemen at the moment, so Bazzana could step in and be the starter for them. If he plays well in spring training, he could easily make a push towards that starting spot.
