Top 10 Catchers for the 2025 Fantasy Baseball Season

#1- William Contreras (MIL)
William Contreras is indisputably the best catcher in baseball right now. The 26 year old was fifth in MVP last season and is one of the best hitters in baseball. He crushed 23 home runs and 92 RBI's with batting splits of .281/.365/.466, he was electric. Contreras gained his second All-Star appearance last season, and was the best catcher in fantasy baseball easily. His ADP is around 30 this season, which we think is a bargain for the positional value he gives.
#2- Adley Rutschman (BAL)
Just as Contreras is the clear best catcher in the league, Rutschman is a clear number two. This is the end of the first tier as the rest of the list cant compare to these two. Despite the setback in 2024, Rutschman is still a very good catcher. He batted .250/.318/.391 last season, with 19 homers and 59 RBI's. The last half of the season Rutschman only batted .207 with just three home runs. There is a big drop in ADP from Contreras to Rutschman, and his ADP is about 52. We think that's just a bit too high, but if you can get him around 60 then he would be a steal.
#3- Yainer Diaz (HOU)
Yainer Diaz might be the most slept on catcher in the MLB. The last couple of seasons, he has quietly been of the best catchers and baseball, and it seems like no one has taken any notice of it. Still just 26 years old, he nearly had 200 hits last season while batting .299 and still hitting 16 home runs. It seems as Diaz has taken a step back from power hitting and is now just trying to get the ball into play, which is working out great for him. Diaz's ADP is 74 and he is coming out as the fifth catcher off the board, which would be the steal of the draft as he could be a top-2 catcher in fantasy baseball this season.
#4- Salvador Perez (KC)
Salvador Perez is still doing it at the ripe age of 34. Yes, you heard that right. Salvador Perez is still a top five catcher in baseball at 34 years old now. He's still hitting homers too, as his 27 last season were the second highest in his career. His ADP is around 80, and with his last season rankings of 53, we think that is a really good place to pick him at.
#5- Cal Raleigh (SEA)
Cal Raleigh is another player who is really slept on. Most casual baseball fans don't even know who Cal Raleigh is, which is crazy since he is one of the best catchers in baseball. He might be the best power hitting catcher in the league with his 34 home runs and 100 RBI's. The thing he struggles with is just getting base hits, with just a .220 batting average. Raleigh's ADP is right next to Perez's at 81, so if you can get either one of them that would be great.
#6- Willson Contreras (STL)
Once upon a time, Willson Contreras was the best catcher in baseball. But sadly, his brother William has taken the crown from him. Nonetheless, Contreras is easily still a top ten catcher in the league, and we have him ranked at sixth. Contreras was sidelined for almost half the year last season, but in 84 games he hit 15 home runs and 36 RBI's at a .262 batting average. Contreras has shown in the past he can be a viable starting catcher, and if he stays healthy this season he can easily be a top five catcher in fantasy.
#7- Will Smith (LAD)
Smith has been the Dodgers starting catcher for four seasons now, and he hasn't disappointed. Smith's big thing is his consistency. He has played around 130 games in four straight seasons, which is really good for catchers. He has also batted around .260 while hitting around 20 home runs each year he's been the starter. Smith was a huge piece of the Dodgers championship run last season, and can be a huge part of your championship run this season.
#8- Shea Langeliers (ATH)
Langeliers is one of the bright young pieces on this struggling A's team. Hitting 29 home runs and 80 RBI's last season, Langeliers hit a lackluster .215 from the plate with just a .276 OBP. We predict that Langeliers contact struggles will end in 2025 and he could play really well in Sacramento this season.
#9- Connor Wong (BOS)
Wong is almost the exact opposite player of Langeliers. While Langeliers is an all power guy who hits a lot of home runs but also strikes out a ton, Wong likes to just get on base. He batted .280 last season with a .333 OBP, but hit just 13 home runs. Wong has a nice blend of contact and a bit of power that allows him to be a top ten catcher in fantasy.
#10- Tyler Stephenson (CIN)
As a diehard Reds fan, it feels good to have one of our guys in these rankings. Usually, a Reds player doesn't even come close to touching these lists if their name isn't Elly de la Cruz. But nonetheless, Stephenson is one of the best defensive catchers in baseball, as well as a really good hitter. He hit 19 home runs with 66 RBI's last season, while cutting his strikeout numbers by nearly 20 and hitting a .267 average. If Stepheson can continue to progress while taking his strikeout numbers back, he could be one of the best catchers in baseball.
