Shota Imanaga's performance on Monday, and why we were right about him
Shota Imanaga had 31 fantasy points on Monday, or six innings pitched, nine strikeouts, two hits, zero walks or earned runs and the win. We dont want to take credit, but in Justin Steele's injury: Who's up next for the Cubs?, and Waiver Wire Pickups: Fantasy Baseball Edition- Week of 3/25, we correctly predicted Imanaga's early success. Now, this won't be the outcome for every performance by him, but we predict he will have a stellar rookie season.
The Cubs signed Shota Imanaga to a four-year, $53 million deal this summer, and a lot of people were wondering how Imanaga would convert into the big leagues, and with this performance he put those critics to shame. Imanaga will be very important for the Cubs this year, and especially now since their ace pitcher Justin Steele just got a Grade 1 hamstring injury and will likely be out until mid-May. The 30 year old rookie played seven years in the Japan Central and Japan Eastern League, where he pitched a 2.96 ERA and 1183 strikeouts, or 169 strikeouts per year.
