Najee Harris' fantasy outlook for the Chargers in 2025

03/12/2025

Najee Harris has recently signed with the Los Angeles Chargers on a one year, $9.25 million contract. The Chargers already have two viable running backs in JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards, but with this signing it looks as if they are going to let Edwards go. Harris has had four straight 1000 yard seasons for the Steelers, and he looks to do some damage here with the Chargers. But, how will this signing affect fantasy football?

For starters, let's go through Harris's stats from last season. He rushed for 1043 yards, while piling up six touchdowns and about four yards per attempt. Najee has kind of flown under the radar, as no one mentions how good he is for getting those four straight 1000 yard seasons. Harris is only the 14th ever running back to accomplish that and the first since Chris Johnson in 2011.

On the fantasy side of things, Harris averaged 12 fantasy points per game last season, and was in the bottom half of the teens for RB rankings. His ranking was somewhere between 17-22, depending on league stats and whatnot. Also, don't expect an immediate outburst in rushes this season for Harris. For all we know, he's the second best running back on the Chargers. JK Dobbins arguably had the better season last year, and he only played thirteen games.

In conclusion, Najee Harris may scratch and claw his way to near 1000 yards again, but don't bank on it. We feel as if the Chargers brought him in to split reps with Dobbins, and also to come in and be the guy if JK gets hurt again. But, we would advise not drafting Najee Harris in fantasy football this season.
