Mike Trout's injury: Who's stepping up for the Angels?
Mike Trout was on pace for a historic season before he had a torn meniscus on April 30th, and now he was placed on the 10-day IL. The good news is that the Angels placed him on the 10-day instead of the 60-day because they think it might be a short recovery for Trout. But now, we will be going over the guys that might take a step up now that Mike Trout is gone.
This season, Trout had a league-leading 10 home runs before he got injured. He also had 14 RBI's and also 24 hits, with a .541 slugging percentage. He was on pace for around for 51 home runs on the season, which would be his career high. The 3x MVP is looking for a return anywhere from mid to late June to early July. But, now these guys will take a step up with chances to be the number one option on the team.
Jordyn Adams
Jordyn Adams is one of the Angels top prospects, and we feel that he is ready to be called up to the majors. He ranks in the 93rd percentile in sprint speed this season, which is incredibly fast. The seventeenth overall pick from the 2018 draft deserves to be called up as a outfielder since the Angels are in great need of one because of Trout's injury.
Jo Adell
Jo Adell has been having a career year this season, and now with Trout's injury he is going to need a big step up. So far for the Angels this season, Adell has been batting .290 with four home runs and eleven RBI's. The twenty five year old outfielder is now a everyday starter for the Angels and could be a quick add to your fantasy team if you need an outfielder.
Cole Tucker
Cole Tucker is a twenty-two year old second basemen and outfielder for the Angels, and he could also become a everyday player for the Angels. This season, he only has 8 AB, but he has 3 hits. He also has a RBI and two stolen bases on the year. He is only rostered in 0.2 % of leagues, so if you want to take a chance on someone, you can take a chance on him.
Taylor Ward
Taylor Ward will now be the number one option on the Angels since Trouts injury, and he has also been having a career year this season. He is rostered in 81.1 % of leagues, so it is unlikely that he will be in free agency. But, trading for him is always on the table. Ward is ranked as the fourth best outfielder and is averaging 5.8 points per game. He has a total of 181 points this season and is playing outstanding for the Angels, and could be playing outstanding for your team if you trade for him.
We would suggest that you trade a package deal with guys like Jarren Duran or Cedric Mullins, or trade Jurickson Profar straight up for Taylor Ward. Either way, he will be playing great this season and he may be exceptional now that Trout is gone, but these other guys can also be good for your team.
