Jurickson Profar signing fantasy baseball insight

02/17/2025

A couple of weeks ago, Jurickson Profar, the star studded outfielder for the Padres last season, signed with the Atlanta Braves. With the chaos of the NBA trade deadline, we haven't gotten around to talking about this signing. This signing is huge for the Braves and more importantly, huge for your fantasy baseball team. In this article we will be going over the signing and how this impacts fantasy baseball going forward.

The All-Star left fielder signed with the Atlanta Braves at the end of January on a 3 year, $42 million deal. This is huge for the Braves as they fill the void in left field that was very much needed. The Braves current left field situation is horrible, as their starting left fielder before Profar signed was Jarred Kelenic, who just isn't getting the job done on a championship level team.

Last season, Profar had a career year. He batted .280/.380/.459 and had OPS of .839, which was good enough to get him his first All-Star selection, and a Silver Slugger. He was one of the best players on the Padres, and he finally hit a spark on his age 31 season. Profar has shown he can be the spark of the team for the Braves, and we grade this an overall B+ signing for them.

Overall, this signing was great for the Braves. They fill the void in left field, and get one of the best left fielders in baseball in doing so. If Profar can have another season like his last, then the Braves will be a problem in the National League. They already have a loaded starting rotation, the best bright young stars in baseball in Ronald Acuna Jr. and Austin Riley, and they now have Jurickson Profar.
