Jahan Dotson traded to the Eagles: Should you draft him?

08/27/2024

Jahan Dotson was recently traded to the Philadelphia Eagles for practically nothing, giving the Eagles a new WR3 that was needed for them. Dotson, coming from the Washington Commanders, and before that Penn State, is enjoying the much needed fresh start for him. But the more important question, should you draft Jahan Dotson in fantasy football this year?

Last season with the Commanders, Dotson had 49 receptions for 518 yards and 4 touchdowns, for an average of 10.6 Y/R. This was his second year in the league, and his first season where he played every game.  Last season was a bit of a rush for the Commanders as they started Sam Howell as the quarterback, and Dotson was also fighting for receptions with Terry Mclaurin. With the Eagles however, Dotson will be under no pressure to be the guy on a team, much like how he was in Washington.

We think that you SHOULD draft Jahan Dotson this year. He is currently being ranked as the 70th best wide receiver available, alongside the likes of Adonai Mitchell and Xavier Legette. He could be just as good as them or even better this season now with the Eagles. The opposing teams will already have to worry about Jalen Hurts, Dallas Goedert, Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown and Devonta Smith, so Jahan Dotson may go unoticed or at the very least not cared for at all, leaving him more open than the rest of the guys. We aren't saying draft him to be a starter on your team, but use him a quality bench guy with a ton of upside.
