How Jayden Daniels with the Commanders will play out in fantasy

04/25/2024
Jayden Daniels just got selected second overall in the 2024 NFL Draft to the Washington Commanders, where he will go in looking to be the starting quarterback. Some questions may be asked on how well he will play in this stacked NFC East division, and we are here to tell you the answers.

Last season at LSU, Daniels threw an impressive 3,812 passing yards, 40 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions, all which helped him get the Heisman Trophy award. He also had 1,135 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns to go along with it. At LSU, he was throwing to star wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and Malik Nabers, both who got selected on Thursday night in round 1. Nabers got picked sixth overall to the Giants, and Thomas Jr. got selected to the Jaguars at pick 23.

Now with Washington, Daniels won't be throwing to two stud receivers. Instead, he'll be throwing to Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, and Zach Ertz. But, many people forgot that the Commanders picked up Austin Ekeler this offseason, and even though he wasn't very great last season, if he can become his past self in Washington then the Commanders will have a pretty good supporting cast around Daniels.

We predict that Daniels this season has upside of being a top 15 QB with his dual threat play style, but if everything goes wrong for him then he could be barely top 30. Some other quarterbacks we have around Daniels in Mock Drafts is his fellow rookie Drake Maye, and also Will Levis, Anthony Richardson, Baker Mayfield, and if he has a better season, even Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields.

We advise to draft Jaden Daniels as a safety backup in last 5 rounds of the draft. He has the potential this season to be a great quarterback, the question is just if he can hold up. We compare him to a way taller version of Kyler Murray, with his passing and running threat, and also college dominance. If players like Jahan Dotson could take a big leap this season, or if Austin Ekeler comes back to his 2022 self, then the Commanders offense could be scary good, and all with Daniels at the helm.
