Geno Smith's trade to the Raiders and how it will affect fantasy football

The Seattle Seahawks traded Geno Smith in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick in order to sign Sam Darnold to a three year, $100 million dollar deal. The trade was great for the Raiders, as they now have a viable quarterback for the next year or two. We believe that Brock Bowers is the big winner of this trade though, as he is now going to get a top-15 quarterback throwing him the ball instead of Aidan O'Connell. But, as always, how will this trade affect fantasy football this season?
Geno Smith threw the ball a lot last season. He was fourth in the league in passing attempts and threw the ball a total of 578 times last season. He threw for a career high 4320 passing yards, with 21 touchdown passes and 15 interceptions. Smith has always been turnover prone, but last season was his worst yet. The good news is that he is reuniting with his former coach Pete Carroll, whom he had his 2022 breakout season with.
In fantasy football last season, Smith logged 266 fantasy points, and was the QB12 on the season. Keep in mind, this was with a horrid offensive line and he was constantly scrambling from the pocket. This season with the Raiders, he will just feed Brock Bowers and actually have some time in the pocket to read the field for open receivers. For example, the Raiders offensive line was ranked 18th in the league last season while the Seahawks was ranked 29th in the NFL. Bowers and Jakobi Meyers will both have monster seasons this year with Geno feeding them the ball, so don't be surprised if you see that headline in an upcoming article.
Geno Smith has the potential to be a top-ten quarterback in fantasy football entering his year 34 season, which is just insane to tell. With his receiving weapons, arguably the best tight end in football, and a competent offensive line, it's not that far of a reach to say that with a clean slate he could do great things. So, draft Geno Smith as a sleeper quarterback pick in fantasy football for this upcoming season if you want to win your fantasy league.
