Elly De La Cruz's hot start to the MLB season
Elly De La Cruz got called up from AAA in the middle of last season, and almost immediately he make an impact on the Reds. But, after his first month in the majors, he got into a bit of a slump and just never took off. This season though, he is playing excellent and it looks like he might be what people expected. Let us dive into how good he's really been so far.
De La Cruz is currently ranked as the third best shortstop in all of fantasy baseball, and it's no surprise why. De La Cruz is averaging about 6 points per game right now, which is equating to around 150 total points. Elly is finally getting his swing under control and not chasing at strikes, which is equaling more hits for him. His strikeout percentage is down nearly 2% from last season, which is just a small step for Elly. Also, another big reason he is getting more points is because he is getting more extra base hits. His percentage of hits being for extra bases is 50%, which is wild when you realize he also has 26 hits this season.
Elly is batting a career high .313 this season, along with 26 hits and seven home runs in only 83 at bats. He also has 23 runs scored this season and 18 RBI's. The truth is, Elly is just generating runs for the Reds, and also generating points for your team. In his last six games, he has nearly sixty points, as he's averaging about 9.5 points per game. A huge part of this is his MLB high 15 stolen bases so far this season, which helps in more ways that one could think. His stolen bases are getting him into a scoring position, which is then allowing him to score. The moral is that Elly De La Cruz is playing red-hot right now, and don't be surprised if the flame never turns off.
